A Techie’s Guide to SunFest

The long-awaited SunFest annual music and art festival is finally here, Palm Beachers! It’s time to pack your sunblock and your dancing shoes.

This year is shaping up to be one of the best yet with an amazing lineup of artists and performers and a revitalized dining section—’50s themed diner included. Other activities include three fully stocked floating bars, a ChillZone with games and seating, live artist demonstrations, and even a closing fireworks show May 7 at 9pm.

This article will be your ultimate guide to using your phone to navigate the event for festival fun and success!

SunFest app

sunfestappThe SunFest app for iOS and Android devices is your official tool to navigate the event. It has built-in maps to help you locate stages with your favorite performers, food stands, ATMs, bathrooms, and more. You can even use the map to set meeting locations for your friends.

It has the most up-to-date list of schedules and lineups, so you’re sure to always know when your favorite artists are set to hit the stage. Be sure to check out the app for parking information as well.

If you don’t have an iOS or Android device, you can also look at SunFest’s official website. It will have the same information like maps, hours, and artist info in a mobile-friendly site.

Pro Tip: Take a look at the list of items to pack—and not to pack! Prohibited items, like coolers and glow sticks, will be confiscated.

Social media

Staying up to date on SunFest social media is the best way to get live updates about shows, events, and undisclosed happenings.

Follow SunFest accounts

Twitter is the best place to go for quick updates. Follow @sunfestfl for SunFest news about “secret” events or promotions. This will be the best platform for live updates on cool, underground activities.

Follow their Snapchat stories with the username sunfestfl to see behind-the-scenes “silliness” and live-action activities. On Snapchat, you may spot something happening right now that you’ll want to go find and experience!

Facebook will give you news and tips from SunFest’s official team. Their Instagram will share pictures of the event, location of the artists, and promotional experiences.

Follow the Locals

Sometimes event goers have more inside knowledge than official promoters. You’ll definitely want to follow these Palm Beach locals. They are your best bet for an unofficial guide to SunFest—and everything Palm Beach!

You can “find him at SunFest”! A Guy on Clematis is Downtown West Palm Beach’s #1 local man for all happenings at West Palm Beach restaurants, events, and activities. Follow him on Twitter or Snapchat @aguyonclematis for special tips and tricks at the festival—and be sure to say hello if you see him!

This is the official account for all things downtown West Palm Beach. You’ll find everything from local business specials and promotions to news about the city. With such a huge event like SunFest, you can be sure that @DowntownWPB will reveal the best food and local promotions!

The Atlantic Current is a local magazine that will keep you up to date on all hot and trending happenings in the area. Their website has a thorough guide to SunFest, SunFest or Bust, and their Twitter will have updated tips as well. They’re also on Snapchat and Instagram @AtlanticCurrent.

You may even want to occasionally search the hashtag #SunfestFL to see what other people around you are doing. You never know what you’ll find through the grapevine!

Other Tech Tips

Using Uber? SunFest will have an official pickup and drop off location that makes it easy to find your Uber. No confusion or stress to catch your ride! There are even coupons available for SunFest riders. Remember, Palm Beachers, never drink and drive — enjoy the floating bars and then get home with Uber!

Phone Charging

Make sure to come with your own portable chargers so your phone is always ready for pictures, Uber, navigating the festival, and keeping up with SunFest social media! If you forget yours, the AT&T tent will have charging stations available to use.

Pro Tip: Bring a waterproof case or Ziploc bag in case of rain or spills!

A Techie SunFest

SunFest’s crew has made it easy to stay connected with friends, the performers, and the local scene with technology. You can use your platform of choice to navigate through the festival and kick off your summer!

P.S. Because you made it this far, here’s a final tip from us at Startup Palm Beach: FLASH MOB Thursday at 6:45 near the Ford Stage. Stop by to join in the fun and capture a memory (and a video) to last a lifetime.
